What is the difference between Saul and David? Why I am asking this is because I am rather confused, why a person like Saul -which the Bible says that there’s no Israelites that physically compares him- rejected by God and He chose another person, David? Maybe the answer is simple, because Saul doesn’t honour God. But why? Why a person like Saul, that elected by God can’t honour God? I still think that God is never wrong. That means if He chose someone, that person must be the best person.
There’s only one answer came out from my mind. It’s a matter of process. Saul is a very talented person. But He never face some problem that shape his personality. But David did, many times as a matter of fact. It means that when someone is changed, that person is changed firstly at his heart (1 Sam 10:9). If someone’s heart is changed, that change is everlasting. That change is the change that Paul the Apostle said in Rome 12:2.
Before Saul elected as a king, he is a shepard, David also a shepard. But Saul is like a “childish” shepard. Why i said that? When Saul went searching his father’s sheep, his father worries about him. This described how Saul is raised up. He is spoiled, yet he is very talented. But David has only 2-3 sheeps and he fought bears and lions barehanded. And I’ve never see any verse in Bible saying about how his father worries about him. That shaped David’s heart. He become a strong person, because he really knows who his God is, God which he can lean on.
