Why We Must Pray?

We believe that God knows everything, and for some people this will make them to ask, “If that so, why I must pray?”. This will make us lost the essence of pray or sometimes it troubles our praying life. Why we must pray is a question that we must answer to make us have a dynamic praying life and make our pray powerful. These passage will tell us and make us understand.

Exodus 17:10-14

So Joshua did as Moses had said to him, and fought with Amalek: and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill. And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed: and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. But Moses hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. And Joshua discomfited Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword. And the LORD said unto Moses, Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: for I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven.

V.14 said that God on His purpose will erase Amalek from the remembrance of all people under heaven. It meanse that God has made some planning about Israel-Amalek war. But, why, if Moses lower his hands, Israel became lose? It means that what Moses did still made an influence on Israel-Amalek war. This illustration does the same with us. Why we must pray? Because what we are praying still does some influence. What we’re doing is not a meaningless job. Even if God has His own plan, it is our job to pray about His plan. What topic should we mention in our pray? It is clear. Praying will “force” God to do what He’s planned. That’s why, we must have one same perception about the topic or what thing that we should pray.

We believe that God loves us very much, that means that He will not neglect us. That’s why I am not suggesting about pray about ourselves. We must pray to God to do what He has planned. That’s what Daniel done in Daniel 9:2-3.

When Daniel knows that after 70 years the Lord will set Israel free, he didn’t feel at ease, he fast and pray. Why? Because praying is like told God to do something. Doesn’t it rude? No! Why? This illustration will give a perception for us. If our father thirsty and we TOLD our father to drink water, does it rude? No! We will done something rude if we told our father to eat or done something else. That does the exact thing with God. We tell God to do what He want.

So, we must reverse our mindset to the contrary. If we know that God wants something, that doesn’t means that we don’t need to pray. At the contrary, we have a bravery to pray to God, we will have a pray with authority (Is 45:11).
