This is a true story about a battle where there is no loss of men from the Israeli side. In Numbers 31, God spoken to Moses to get revenge against Midianites. Then, Moses spoke to the children of Israel to arm themselves and avenge the lord of Midianites. There are 12,000 armed men prepared to war. They slew all the males, the kings of Midian and took all the women to captives. They plunder the Midianites, all of the flocks and all of their goods.
After the war, the tribute was sent unto God just like what God has instructed. And, all of the officers, the captains of thousands and the captains of hundreds came near to Moses and said that they have count the men of war under their charge and they lack no one of the men.
It’s a miracle I think, because in every war, it is a common thing if a man died. But, as usual, God spared the Israeli, because they are the chosen nation. There are two factors that we can learn,
1. God is the conceptor of the war.
Never go to a war if God not told us to do that. A war means everything in our life. It can be a economic competition, taking risk to do something, or anything. But, if God has instructed us, be sure that we will be the winner!
2. The children of Israel did the exact thing like God has instructed.
Do the exact thing like what God has instructed. If you don’t know how to do the war, wait and seek in God’s presence, like the priests facing God’s presence to seek His approval. Ask Him what to do, and be sure, we do exactly the right thing like God has spoken. Because, if we missed, even just a little miss, there will be a curse against us (Read Joshua 7).
